Route Tables

There will be a Route table for each destination that is defined in the model. Route tables can be indexed by planning period.

The Route table will display all of the attributes that are in the attribute table of the GIS file that contains the road location information. These attributes are copied verbatim. Additional columns in the Route table are as follows:

AttributeDescription
LABELThis column contains the value of the join key that links the route attributes to the GIS file. This value will be a duplicate of the join key column in the GIS file.
INDEXThe INDEX column contains a numeric row number used internally to associate road segments with modelling attributes. The index number starts at 0.
V_FROMThe identification number of the road network vertex that is at the source of the road segment. This number can be used when debugging road connectivity problems.
V_TOThe identification number of the road network vertex that is at the end of the road segment. This number can be used when debugging road connectivity problems.
VOLUME The amount of volume that is transported other this road segment during this planning period for this destination.
ADDEDVOLUME The amount of volume added to the road network at this segment during this planning period for this destination.
BUILTLENGTHThe amount of road that is scheduled to be built during this planning period. Roads that exist prior to the start of the simulation will record their length in this column in period zero.
HAUL_EXPENSE The cost of hauling wood over this road segment during this planning period for the destination.
BUILD_EXPENSE The cost of building roads in this planning period. This field will show the cost of building a road if the road is built in that planning period. Otherwise, the column will have a value of zero.
MAINTAIN_EXPENSE The cost of maintaining the road during this planning period. This field will show the maintenance cost of this road only if it it being used to transport products during this planning period.
INITIAL_USE This column shows the planning period in which the road was first used. Roads that exist prior to the start of the simulation have a value of 0. Roads that are not built or used will also have a value of 0.
FLOW The direction of flow of wood over the road segment during this planning period in order to forward the wood to the destination.
DISTANCE The total distance from this segment to the destination, as traveling along this road network. This calculation takes in to account the ordering of the road network. The value may be more than the shortest route, since the route may take in to account other factors (e.g. less expensive routes, already built roads).
HAUL_COST The total cost of hauling a single unit of product from this segment to the destination. This value is typically expressed in $/m3. This column can be used to map out cost zones.
