The Block Attribute Table

The Block Attribute table contains all of the attributes from the underlying GIS file, as well as a large number of simulation attributes that are generated by the Patchworks program. This section describes the attributes automatically generated by simulation model. For a more complete overview of the structure of the block table see the section called “The Block Attribute Table”.

The following lists all the attributes in the block table and gives a brief description of their function:

LABELThe unique identifier for the block.
INDEXA number that indicates the row order of the polygon. The row numbering starts at 0.
PERIODSThe number of periods in the planning horizon. This is 1 for period 0.
PERIODWIDTHThe width of the period in years of the planning horizon.
MANAGEDAREAThe area in hectares within the block that is available for management.
UNMANAGEDAREAThe area in hectares within the block that is unavailable for management.
TOTALAREAThe total area of the block which is equal to the sum of the MANAGEDAREA + UNMANAGEDAREA.
MANAGEDOFFSETThe age of the managed portion of the block in years.
UNMANAGEDOFFSETThe age of the unmanaged portion of the block in years.
AVERAGEOFFSETThe average age of the block which is equal to (MANAGEDOFFSET+UNMANAGEDOFFSET)/2
MANAGEDSTRATAA record of the fragments making up the managed portion of the block in percent of area.
UNMANAGEDSTRATAA record of the fragments making up the unmanaged portion of the block in percent of area.
MANAGEDTRACK An integer which links to a collection of all the features connected to the managed portion of a block and all the treatments and products available for it.
UNMANAGEDTRACKAn integer which links to a collection of all the features connected to the unmanaged portion of a block. Unmanaged tracks will not have associated treatments and products as treatments are not available to unmanaged areas.
AVAILABLEA check box which is populated with a check mark if the block is available for treatment.
CANDIDATETREATMENTSA list of treatments that the managed area on this block is eligible for.
CURRENTTREATMENTThe treatment that the managed area on this block is undergoing in the current period.
TREATMENTAGEThe age at which the managed area on the block is treated.
DELTAThe year in the future at which the managed area on the block is treated.
LASTTREATMENTThe last treatment that the managed area on block has undergone.
EARLYOPERABILITYA positive number indicates the number of years until the soonest treatment is eligible. A negative number indicates the number of years that the currently eligible treatments have been eligible.
LATEOPERABILITY A positive number indicates the number of years until the currently eligible treatment is no longer eligible. A negative number indicates how long since the most recent treatment option became ineligible.
CANDIDATEUNMANAGEDTREATMENTSA list of treatments that the unmanaged area on this block is eligible for.
CURRENTUNMANAGEDTREATMENTThe treatment that the managed area on this block is undergoing in the current period.
UNMANGEDDELTAThe year in the future at which the unmanaged area on the block is treated.
VERTEXThe vertex on the road network within the block.
GROUPSA list of the groups that this block belongs to.
UNITRelates to the Timing Constraint table. Units are used to group blocks into larger spatial units such as watersheds or protected areas.
ZONERelates to the Timing Constraint table. Zones can be used to further group units, or if no zone is assigned, the default will be the unique unit value.
ELIGIBILITYRelates to the Timing Constraint table. Contains "AVAILABLE" if the block is eligible for a treatment when the timing constraint table is loaded, "MANUAL" if unavailable but existing treatments left standing, or "UNAVAILABLE" if not available and treatments are cleared.
