If statement

if (a>1) {
   print("greater");
}

The if statement has a conditional expression within parentheses, followed by a statement or a code block. When the statement runs the conditional expression is evaluated to determine a true or false value. If a true value results from the conditional expression then the following statement or code block is run. If it is a code block then all of the statements in the code block are run. If the conditional expression returns false then the following statement or code block is skipped.

By convention the code block or statement usually begins on the line following the conditional expression.
