Comparing Scenarios

The definition of a scenario in information technology, according to Webster's Dictionary is: a set of specified conditions for input to the model which usually reflect some anticipated future situations. A scenario incorporates both inputs and outputs to a model.

A scenario in Patchworks is a specific plan, or long-term harvest schedule for a specific planning area and time horizon. Since Patchworks scenarios are spatially explicit, every proposed treatment is identified with a timing and a location. A scenario also includes all the objectives inputted into the model and all the reports generated as outputs.

In Patchworks, a scenario consists of all target settings, treatment schedules, block settings, routes and reports which are evaluated over the entire planning area and time horizon. All this information is contained in a scenario folder.
