This Quick Tour will go through the steps to generate each part of the Crowsnest Pass sample dataset and get them into shape for input into Patchworks.

The relationship of the three main areas of data preparation is shown in Figure 147, “Steps to building a Patchworks model”. Most of the steps necessary to create a model dataset can be carried out using the Data Prep tools accessible from the Application Launcher. Each data preparation tool is shown by an orange oval and the corresponding section in the following chapter is above each component of the diagram.

We suggest that when you work through this section you use the checklist found in ???

[Important]Important

It is important to distinguish between the sample dataset included with the software and the Quick Tour III dataset you will prepare. The 'Sample' folder contains a complete model that works with the Quick Tour's in Part I. When building the dataset in the Quick Tour III be sure to NOT replace any of the files in the Sample folder (just in case they are slightly different!).
