Map Layers

The Map Viewer is capable of simultaneously displaying a number of different map layers. Two types of layers can be rendered: geo-referenced imagery data (such as MrSid or ERMapper) and vector geo-relational data (such as shapefiles, ESRI coverages, and SDE data).

Image layers usually contain all the information required to render a full-color image. Geo-relational layers contain spatial data, attributes and user-specified thematic rendering information (symbology).
