It's time to take control of the entire planning area in all planning periods! To see all of the objectives that have been set for the C5 we can open all the active targets simultaneously. There is a shortcut that is less time consuming than navigating into all the target folders to find those targets that are active.

Figure 30. Opening all active targets using the Windows menu
The 'Window' menu item allows you to open all active targets at once, and then provides additional options to tile the target charts on your screen to be able to view several simultaneously.
Now we can see what is going on! Patchworks will size all the open windows to fit within your screen. As you can see a number of objectives have been set; the visual quality objectives from the first Quick Tour, available growing stock, disturbance and harvest patches, harvest quotas and transportation expenditures.
Now that everything is set and ready to go, lets start the scheduler and let the model form an allocation.

Figure 31. Using the Windows Taskbar to arrange open windows
Various Patchworks windows can be accessed from the Java menu on the Windows taskbar.
We have now given control to the scheduler to find a harvest plan that will satisfy all of our objectives over the whole planning area for all planning periods. We can watch the black lines march up in all of the target charts. The black lines will move more rapidly at first and slow down as they approach the objective level Patchworks approaches a stable solution.
The sample dataset takes only a few minutes to approach a stable solution, however more complex models with larger datasets may take several hours or even days. For a discussion on solve times and when to save a scenario solution see Table 20, “Performance Table Attributes” or the section called “Starting and Pausing the Scheduler”.

After you have run the model for several minutes and the
values in the active target charts appear to be reaching the
objective values you may pause the scheduler using the 'Pause'
